About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising, and monitoring the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of buildings, including Divisional Headquarters, Officer’s quarters, vehicles, grounds, and equipment. The role involves assisting in negotiating, supervising, and monitoring contracted maintenance services, ensuring all equipment operates correctly and complies with standard operating procedures and safety standards. The supervisor will also participate in difficult repair work, operate a Salvation Army vehicle for material transport, and maintain an inventory of Salvation Army property.

Requirements

Ability to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and security of buildings, grounds, and related equipment.
Ability to supervise, prioritize, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the work of subordinate maintenance employees.
Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
Ability to negotiate, supervise, and monitor contract maintenance services.
Ability to remain certified on Salvation Army vehicle insurance.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
Two years course work from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air condition, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades, AND Three to five years progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Bilingual Required
Valid State Driver’s License

Responsibilities

Plans, prioritizes, and schedules the work of staff performing maintenance.
Plans, prioritizes, supervises, and monitors the preventative maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, utility equipment, and appliances.
Schedules and conducts routine inspections of vehicles, kitchen appliances, maintenance tools and equipment, as well as heat and air conditioning, elevators, telephone, security and fire alarm systems on a routine basis to ensure their longevity.
Supervises and participates in the maintenance of structures, fixtures, and decor through additions, repairs, adjustments, painting or replacement.
Supervises the maintenance and security of the Salvation Army fleet of vehicles, ensuring proper preventative maintenance and repairs at reasonable costs.
Assists in reviewing, monitoring, and maintaining all product warranties and guarantees to ensure maintenance and repair work is conducted in compliance with the same.
Participates in loss control and safety programs to improve and control injury and loss experiences.
Opens/closes building as scheduled; raises and lowers all flags daily; displays special signs as needed.
Assists in supervising all construction and renovation projects.
Performs other related work as required.
