Building Inspector - 90 Day

About The Position

The Building Inspector works in the Town of Braintree’s Building and Health Department. The role requires certification as a Local Building Inspector under 780 CMR (Massachusetts State Building Code), which must be maintained throughout employment. The position is scheduled for up to 19.5 hours per week and pays $160.00–$165.00 per day. The date available is ASAP. The position includes administrative duties and field work. Physical requirements include accessing all areas of a property or business and, in conjunction with duties of Weights & Measures, lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Must be certified as a Local Building Inspector in accordance with 780 CMR (Massachusetts State Building Code), and maintain certification throughout employment.
At least five years of experience supervising building construction or design; alternatively, a two-year associate degree in a field related to building construction or design; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a Massachusetts driver’s license and be able to use a personal motor vehicle during work hours.
Must be able to perform administrative and field duties, access all areas of a property or business, and lift up to 50 pounds in conjunction with duties of Weights & Measures.
Must be able to read and analyze documents and measuring devices, use a computer, and operate a motor vehicle.
