About The Position

The Town of Jackson is seeking a Building Inspector with demonstrated abilities in residential and commercial building inspection, code compliance, plans examination, permit review and issuance, and documentation associated with these functions. The position also requires knowledge of construction methods and construction management. The ideal candidate has building inspection and related construction-trades experience, customer service skills, permit and database skills, strong values, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Local government experience and ICC certifications are preferred.

The position is exempt. The listed salary is $77,000–$110,000, depending on qualifications (DOQ). Applications are due Monday, November 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Interviews may be conducted and a selection made before the deadline.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of building inspection experience.
• 3 years of related experience in construction trades.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Permit and database skills.
• Strong values orientation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction methods and construction management.
