About The Position

The Building Engineer supports MSG Sphere with the daily operation of all building systems and will be engaged in operating, maintaining, and repairing all facility system equipment and machinery associated with HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems and will ensure to identify best practices for a safe and efficient environment for guests and employees. The Building Engineer will be qualified to perform service and repair of HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, boilers, exhaust fans, cooling towers and plumbing systems. Additionally, the building engineer will operate and monitor BMS, fire alarm, power monitoring, and lighting control systems and provide continuous documentation of alterations, maintenance, and repair.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Building Engineer preferably in an arena or public assembly environment.
  • Able to operate a variety of aerial platforms, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
  • Knowledge of HVAC/R troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be proficient in the safe use of trade related tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge in high rise fire safety operation procedures and protocol.
  • EPA section 608 universal technician certification.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to work nights weekends and holidays.
  • Capable of reaching climbing and working off a ladder.
  • Navigate efficiently under various environments and adapting to indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Able to perform tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to acknowledge and retain information of critical machinery.
  • Required to have completed the OSHA 10-Hour Training Course

Nice To Haves

  • Locksmith skills a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of beverage systems (Carbonators, Soda Guns, Glycol Chillers) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment, pumps, exhaust fans, air handlers, mini split AC units, boilers and all associated valves and controllers.
  • Inspect and replace air filters, belts, bearings, and water filtration equipment.
  • Perform plumbing repairs on all bathroom fixtures and valves both manual and automatic including toilets lavatories and urinals.
  • Service all drain lines and operate drain cleaning machines, augers and water jet drain cleaning equipment.
  • Perform lighting repairs and troubleshoot lighting control circuits including drivers, dimmers, relays and wall stations.
  • Service, maintain and repair kitchen and food service equipment, beverage dispensing systems, walk in coolers, and ice machines.
  • Service, maintain and repair door locksets, cylinders, hinges, panic assemblies, door closers and associated hardware.
  • Provide temporary power for event activations using portable power distribution boxes as needed.
  • Operate and monitor fire life and safety systems such as sprinklers systems, fire pump, smoke control system, standby generator and all related appurtenances.
  • Develops and ensures high level of service standards for the facility equipment as well as exceptional inter-departmental collaboration, communication and support.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
