Reporting to the Program Manager, the Building Custodian is responsible for washing and cleaning floors and carpets, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens and room doors in common areas, cleaning stairwells, disposing of refuge, cleaning windows, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures. The Building Custodian is regularly exposed to and in direct contact with dust, dirt, fumes, cleaning and other chemicals, germs and human waste. The Building Custodian maintains the cleanliness of the grounds, may be required to clean vacant rooms; and reports any damage and/or problems in the building to the Program Manager. This program serves individuals who identify and live full time as women, including those who have experienced gender based violence and misogyny. To ensure a safe, accessible, trauma informed, and culturally responsive environment for residents, this position requires staff who identify and live full time as women. The presence of women staff is essential to meeting residents’ needs related to safety, dignity, privacy, and effective support.
