About The Position

The Building Custodian is responsible for the repair, maintenance, cleanliness, and neatness of the building and grounds. The role helps preserve property values, protect the health and safety of occupants, support the educational objectives of the building, and provide a climate of learning and goodwill. The custodian performs seasonal grounds work, including snow and lawn maintenance, understands and follows safety procedures, and carries out other general duties as indicated by the Principal or designee, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.

Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Physical and mental capabilities to perform the work, including moving in and out of offices, classrooms, and buildings, and going up and down stairs.
• Knowledge of effective cleaning techniques and routine preventative maintenance.
• Ability to function independently, prioritize, stay organized, and multitask.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual ability is preferred.
• Prior custodial work experience is desired, preferably in a public school setting.
• Other qualifications the Superintendent of Schools finds appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities
