About The Position

The Building People, LLC has an opening for a Building Controls Design Engineer to support the design, implementation, commissioning, and ongoing support of Building Automation Systems (BAS). This junior-to-mid-level role is intended for candidates with approximately 2–5 years of experience who are developing hands-on expertise with Tridium Niagara–based, vendor-agnostic building controls solutions across commercial, institutional, or federal facilities. The engineer will work under the guidance of senior engineers and project leaders while collaborating with customers, project managers, and subcontractors to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable smart building systems.

The role assists with controls engineering tasks, including system configuration, programming support, integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation. It contributes to project delivery while offering opportunities to build technical depth in BAS platforms, open protocols, networked controls, and smart building technologies.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–5 years of experience.
• Hands-on expertise or developing skills with Tridium Niagara–based building controls solutions.
• Experience or familiarity with vendor-agnostic building controls solutions across commercial, institutional, or federal facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, commissioning, and ongoing support of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Assist with controls engineering tasks, including system configuration and programming support.
• Assist with BAS integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot building controls systems.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation.
• Collaborate with customers, project managers, subcontractors, senior engineers, and project leaders to deliver building systems.
