Building Automation Installer
About The Position
Under direct supervision, this role involves assembling, planning, routing, installing, and repairing wiring and other electrical components and equipment necessary to install engineered control and security systems. The position contributes to the organization's safety and work culture. Key responsibilities include electrical wiring and installation, testing electrical systems, using various tools and equipment, and working at heights. The role also involves documentation, material and equipment management, project planning, and maintaining product knowledge. The installer is responsible for personal and team safety, managing their workload, and keeping their supervisor informed of job status. This role also includes mentoring junior installation specialists.
Requirements
- 2 Years experience and/or training in the electrical field
- 2 years of using test equipment to include multi-meters and digital analyzers
- Proficient in use/knowledge of Microsoft Office
Responsibilities
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to electrical components as needed for a complete and operational system.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring or equipment using testing devices, such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as ammeters.
- Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
- Responsible for personal and team safety on jobs. May include pre-task planning and tool box talks.
- Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.
- Assist with preparing completed job as-built documentation.
- Complete and submit labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete and accurate manner.
- Maintain assigned equipment and literature.
- Maintain company vehicle and inventory on vehicle necessary for efficient job completion.
- Monitor assigned jobs for changes in materials or equipment and notify supervisor.
- Provide job material requests to supervisor as they are needed.
- Examine project plans, specifications and submittal documentation then review with Project Manager to get a complete project understanding.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Maintain basic product knowledge, procedures and methods, and continuously learn more advanced product applications.
- Stay up to date on company installation standards, safety training and current building codes as they pertain to scope of work.
- Manage own backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion.
- Keep supervisor informed of job status and elevate problems as needed.
- Mentor and train Controls Installation Specialist I.
