Building Automation Controls Programmer
About The Position
The System Specialist is responsible for programming, graphics development, database configuration, startup, and commissioning of building automation and controls systems. The role supports project execution from installation through turnover, including point-to-point checkout, system debugging, alarm verification, and documentation. The position works closely with design, installation, service, and sales teams to help ensure systems are delivered accurately, operate efficiently, and meet project specifications. Travel to job sites may be required to support commissioning and system startup activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two-year technical degree in HVAC- or electronics-related studies.
- At least 3 years of experience in building controls or a related field.
- At least 3 years of mechanical aptitude.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Distech, Alerton, or Tridium.
Responsibilities
- Provide controls database configuration, graphics, and programming for sequences based on the Design Specialist's direction, project specifications, or other applicable sources.
- Perform controls system startup and commissioning, including point-to-point checkout on assigned projects.
- Verify correct alarms, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators on controls projects.
- Support installation personnel at project sites.
- Provide information and support to other contractors at project sites.
- Debug installation issues during static and dynamic startup and commissioning of building controls.
