About The Position

The Division of Student Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a part-time Building Attendant II for the University Unions, Dobie Center. This role is part of the University Unions' mission to enhance the student experience and enrich campus life by providing cultural, educational, social, and recreational programs, as well as related goods and services to the campus community. The position contributes to programs, organizations, and activities that help students develop a sense of community and gain valuable leadership and career readiness skills.

Requirements

  • Experience in any of the following fields: custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience following basic work instructions.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Six months or more experience in any of the above listed fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with supervisors and peer group in a timely and effective manner.
  • Experience using industrial-sized custodial equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, written instructions, product labels and instructions, and other written job materials.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be an effective team member.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the area immediately outside the facility remains neat and clean.
  • Assist with floor care, including shampooing carpets, scrubbing floors and stripping and finishing floors.
  • Clean, stock and maintain the male and female restrooms.
  • Assist with room set-ups and breakdowns for special events.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and remove trash throughout the facility.
  • Follow job requirements and direction from building supervisors.
  • Use proper cleaning materials, correctly operate janitorial equipment and adhere to required safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building supervisors.
