About The Position

The Builder Car Buyer finds, evaluates, and buys vehicles to keep Nevada Pic A Part’s yards stocked and serves as the Car Buying team’s point person for the Builder Program. The role is primarily phone-based: answering seller calls, following up on online leads, and making outbound calls. Offers must balance vehicle condition, parts demand, and purchase cost to support customer needs and company profitability. The employee also identifies vehicles that may be worth selling whole as Builders and flags them for the Builder team to confirm.

This is a full-time, on-site, hourly role at the North Las Vegas (Lamb) yard, scheduled for 40 hours per week during the team’s posted phone hours. The employee works closely with the Car Buying Lead, who provides coaching based on performance numbers, and coordinates vehicle pickups with Dispatch. Success includes maintaining a steady lead pipeline, meeting the monthly buying target, and identifying potential Builders at the time of purchase. Overtime is not approved as a matter of course; when genuinely needed, it must be approved in advance by the Car Buying Manager. The stated pay is $15–$16 per hour plus performance-based compensation.

Requirements

• Previous sales or customer service experience; call center or automotive experience is ideal.
• Confident phone communication skills, including guiding conversations, thinking on one’s feet, and closing deals while remaining friendly and professional.
• Ability to judge vehicle value based on year, make, model, and condition, and to learn which parts are in demand.
• Organization and accuracy, including maintaining detailed records and completing daily reports on time.
• Dependability, adaptability, and ability to multitask in a high-volume setting.
• A coachable, goal-oriented, self-starting approach and willingness to follow written procedures.
• Comfort using computers, online lead platforms, and phone systems.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of vehicles and the used-car or salvage market.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming seller calls promptly, guide each call to a decision, and follow up the same day when needed.
• Make daily outbound calls to follow up on online marketplace listings and previous no-buy leads.
• Work every company online lead until the vehicle is purchased or the lead is closed out.
• Base offers on the vehicle’s year, make, model, condition, and market demand for parts to support profitable purchases.
• Prioritize management’s high-demand vehicles and keep purchases within buying guidelines and budget.
• Coordinate purchases from private sellers and, when assigned, from auctions, insurance companies, tow yards, and donation programs.
• Coordinate pickup appointments and hand-off details with Dispatch, following required standards.
• Flag potentially suitable Builder vehicles at the time of purchase for the Builder team to confirm.
• Meet the monthly vehicle-buying target.
• Submit a complete and accurate daily report covering vehicles purchased, appointments scheduled, cancellations, and reschedules.
