About The Position

This position provides daily programmatic leadership and is a member of the management team. The role involves reviewing procurement activity and operating budgets, and coaching and counseling staff and external personnel at an office or facility. The position resolves problems and questions presented by subordinate supervisors or managers department-wide regarding work processes, policies, organization, or methods. It manages complex personnel issues such as employee selection, salary recommendations, employee orientation, performance reviews, and disciplinary/grievance actions. The role also assists with policy development, interpretation, and planning, including the development, review, and modification of procedures impacting the office, and provides status reports as needed. Additionally, it assesses operational needs with regard to automation, telecommunication, and facility management, communicates with a wide variety of internal staff and external agencies, ensures procedures are followed, and usually supervises administrative, clerical, and/or technical staff. The Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) providing support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles within a governmental setting.
  • Ability to effectively operate a computer to process information and generate reports.
  • Ability to compile and analyze budgetary information and budget revisions.
  • Considerable knowledge of the State Accounting system.
  • Two years of practical experience in computer operations.
  • In-depth experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive related experience, two years of which should be in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting with 2 years experience in budget field or related accounting type work or four-year degree in Business Administration with 12 semester hours of accounting and four years State Budget experience.
