About The Position

The Service Oklahoma (SOK) mission is to ease the stress in navigating government services by providing a best-in-class customer experience. We are Oklahomans helping Oklahomans by providing driver license and motor vehicle services on behalf of the state. This position has an annual rate of $56,250 - $62,500, based on experience. The Service Oklahoma offers a generous benefits package, including a benefits allowance to off-set the costs of medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans. The Service Oklahoma will match up to 7% towards an employee’s Defined Contribution retirement plan. Our employees receive 11 paid holidays, 15 days of paid annual leave, which increases with every 5 years of service, and 15 days of paid sick leave. Additionally, employees will receive longevity payments based on their years of service with the State of Oklahoma. POSITION SUMMARY The Budget Analyst assists with the development of the agency’s annual budget, including preparation, review, recycle and submission. During the year the position assists and confirms proposed coding of purchase orders and vouchers to ensure alignment with budget. Position verifies agency expenditures are approved, funded, and coded properly for the general ledger.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of the Statewide Accounting Manual
  • Detail-oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Ability to self-motivate, track, and follow-up on all communications and/or tasks.
  • Ability to recognize potential issues, research, and troubleshoot for possible resolution or to provide recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff within and outside of the Finance division, demonstrating a high degree of interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of state’s chart of accounts and agency’s coding structure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or other related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • OR a minimum of four (4) years of professional-level accounting or finance experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • The schedule for this position may vary and require flexibility, including some early or late shifts, weekends, and occasional overtime, based on the needs of the agency.
  • This position may require occasional travel.
  • The selected candidate must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel.
  • State vehicles may be available, but reliable transportation may be required for local travel.
  • This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Government accounting.
  • Experience working with a general ledger, PeopleSoft Financials, or similar ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of the annual agency budget work program, annual budget request, and annual legislative hearing documents.
  • Reviews and approves purchase requests and invoices to ensure accuracy and availability of funding.
  • Analyzes and reports data related to agency financial transactions and operations, revenues, and expenditures.
  • Administers the agency’s Purchasing Card Program
  • Addresses various budget inquiries and provides information regarding the agency’s budget as requested by agency leadership.
  • Collaborates with other areas within the Finance team on various tasks and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
