About The Position

The Budget Analyst / Accounting Clerk IV supports financial planning, budget monitoring, and accounting operations for a public‑sector organization. This role analyzes financial data, prepares forecasts and journal entries, manages revenue and grant postings, and produces monthly reports to inform leadership. County‑level government experience highly preferred. ​ This is a temp/contract position with the possibility of full-time employment with full benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, or FP&A.
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheets (advanced Excel).
  • Experience with financial systems such as PeopleSoft and reporting tools such as Power BI preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as CPA, IPMA, CMFOA, or GFOA.
  • Prior county or local government finance experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with Treasurer and Auditor offices.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data to detect discrepancies and ensure fiscal accuracy.
  • Prepare budget forecasts, journal entries, and budget transfers in accordance with GAAP and government policies.
  • Monitor annual operating budgets and produce monthly financial reports; identify anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage revenue and grant accounting, including fee contracts, asset auction/disposal revenue, and timely deposits; resolve posting discrepancies with Treasurer/Auditor offices.
  • Support debt and funding analyses and ensure compliance with funding restrictions and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
