About The Position

The Budget Administrative Specialist II reports to the Assistant Dean for Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and will monitor and reconcile budgets and sub-budgets as directed, using Tulane’s financial systems. This position will also assist as requested with accounting and some payroll, such as expense reports and procurement. The Specialist will serve as a School resource for expense report creation, submittal, and compliance, including training users on proper policy and procedures. In addition, the Specialist will assist the Assistant Dean for FP&A and the Chief Business Officer with the annual budgeting process for the school. This position may also assist students with billing questions/issues. This position also holds a Tulane Purchasing Card and Corporate Card and conducts business for many areas in the school. Strict confidentiality must be kept as this position has knowledge of sensitive data (i.e., payroll/salary information, employment files, and credit card numbers).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial systems and in generating budget reports.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to address needs and questions quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to utilize shared files via a cloud storage system.
  • Knowledge of Tulane’s financial systems.
  • Knowledge of required elements for expense reports.
  • Ability to work with individuals with diverse levels of knowledge and understanding of Tulane systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of related work experience OR High school diploma/equivalent and six years of directly related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an academic environment.
  • 5 years of directly applicable payroll, accounts receivable/payable and budget reconciliation experience.
