About The Position

The Unit Supervisor for the Florida Region BSA Unit supports the execution, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of the Bank’s BSA/AML transaction monitoring and regional BSA operational activities assigned to the Florida Region. The position is responsible for supervising the Florida Transaction Monitoring Team, which at present consists of two BSA Analysts, and ensuring timely assignment, review, follow-up, quality oversight, and escalation of transaction monitoring alerts and related BSA matters in accordance with applicable procedures, service-level expectations, and the Bank’s BSA/AML Compliance Program. The role provides direct supervision, guidance, coaching, workload coordination, and performance follow-up for the Florida Transaction Monitoring Team. The Unit Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day performance follow-up and execution of assigned work, including daily alert assignments, monitoring of production, review of in-progress alerts and investigations, quality feedback, production disruption tracking, and escalation of matters that may affect timeliness, backlog management, documentation quality, employee performance, or regulatory compliance expectations. In addition to transaction monitoring responsibilities, the Unit Supervisor coordinates and monitors certain regional BSA/AML operational activities, including account opening exceptions requiring BSA review, OPB quality review coordination, FIU requests for information, investigation second-level review, potential SAR referral escalation, quarterly quality metrics, and BSA reporting support. Matters involving SLA risk, potential backlog, employee relations, account opening exception recommendations, SAR-related escalation, or issues requiring BSA Officer determination must be escalated to the BSA Officer and applicable Corporate BSA/Compliance stakeholders, as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience performing regulatory compliance functions in the banking industry, with knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC laws and regulations.
  • Minimum of three years relevant regulatory compliance experience in the banking industry, preferably in BSA/AML, branches or back-office operations, or internal/external audit.
  • Prior supervisory experience is desired but not required.
  • Regulatory accountability mindset and examiner-ready documentation standards
  • Knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC laws and regulations
  • Strong supervisory skills, interpersonal communication, leadership, and teamwork orientation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Strong analytical, proofreading, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Sound judgment, confidentiality, ethical values, and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, AI, the Bank’s core systems, and BSA/AML case management or monitoring tools

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, monitor, and provide performance feedback to the BSA Compliance Specialist and Transaction Monitoring Analysts assigned to the Florida Compliance Unit, providing day-to-day guidance and coaching to support consistent execution of BSA/AML responsibilities.
  • Assign, distribute, monitor, and review the work of BSA Compliance Specialists and Transaction Monitoring Analysts, including workload progress, quality, aging, and prioritization of assigned BSA/AML tasks.
  • Support the Compliance Officer in developing, updating, implementing, and communicating BSA/AML procedures, processes, and controls applicable to the Florida Region, ensuring regional practices remain aligned with Bank-wide BSA/AML Program requirements.
  • Coordinate and support BSA/AML functions for the Florida Region, including coordination of second-level reviews of Florida suspicious activity investigations performed by the Corporate Compliance Unit and review, recommendation, coordination, or escalation of account opening exceptions requested by the Region’s Business Units, including Foreign Individual Accounts, as applicable.
  • Serve as liaison between the BSA FIU Unit and the Florida Region by obtaining explanations, documentation, and supporting information needed to supplement the investigation process and by following up on Accounts Resolution Committee cases involving the Region.
  • Serve as liaison between the High-Risk Customers Unit and the Florida Region, supporting timely completion of ongoing due diligence and periodic review processes, including OPBs and related follow-up activities.
  • Support BSA/AML examinations, internal audits, independent testing, management reviews, remediation efforts, system implementations, process enhancements, user testing, procedure updates, and workflow changes affecting Florida transaction monitoring or regional BSA/AML operational activities, as assigned.
  • Participate in and support the execution of the Bank’s BSA/AML and OFAC Compliance Program for the Florida Region, ensuring alignment with Corporate BSA standards, applicable procedures, and the Bank’s established control framework.
  • Follow up on production expectations, including complex alert review volumes and regular alert productivity, taking into consideration alert complexity, operational circumstances, and other factors that may affect daily production.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative supervision of the Florida BSA Analysts, including biweekly one-on-one discussions, staff meetings, productivity follow-up, workplan adherence, attendance-related monitoring, vacation coordination, performance metrics discussions, and timely escalation of employee relations matters through the appropriate channels.
  • Maintain quality oversight of alerts processed by the Florida BSA Analysts, including monitoring quality review results, identifying recurring errors or omissions, documenting corrective feedback, reinforcing expectations, and coordinating related quality metrics and reporting support.
  • Escalate matters involving SLA risk, potential backlog, employee relations, account opening exception recommendations, SAR-related concerns, quality trends, interim coverage, staffing transitions, or issues requiring Compliance Officer or BSA Officer determination to the Compliance Officer, BSA Officer, and applicable Corporate BSA/Compliance stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, quality enhancement, workload efficiency, and staff development, and communicate recommendations to the BSA Officer or applicable Corporate BSA/Compliance stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
