About The Position

The BSA/AML department is dedicated to protecting the Bank from illicit activity related to money laundering and terrorist financing. A BSA Quality Control (QC) Analyst is a BSA/AML industry expert with strong attention to detail who adheres to department policies, procedures and regulations. This role combines technical expertise while ensuring high-quality work, regulatory compliance, and consistent application of department policies and procedures. The role supports various processes covered by the BSA Policy, including anti-money laundering (AML)/countering the financing of terrorism (CFT), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance. This position provides independent, ongoing monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance, internal policy adherence, and data integrity, as well as adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls. The role is responsible for completing assigned work within SLA, as well as completing work to procedural and regulatory standards. It involves conducting root-cause analysis to identify systemic issues or procedural weaknesses and providing effective and timely communication to management on matters requiring attention and to the team as required. The role also supports the design, maintenance, and execution of AML/BSA Quality Control (QC) Procedures and requires comfort in operating in ambiguity, executing sound judgment when procedures or policy have room for interpretation. A curious mindset coupled with strong risk management and logical thinking skills is necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A background screening will be conducted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct BSA/AML experience.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  • Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate with clients directly and effectively.
  • Ability to utilize telephone systems and possess good digital literacy including email, internet, and intranet use.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of prior BSA/AML quality control, or equivalent, experience (Level I)
  • CAMS or CFE certification, or equivalent (Level I)
  • 1-2 years of prior BSA/AML quality control, or equivalent, experience (Level II)
  • CAMS or CFE certification, or equivalent (Level II)
  • Prior experience using BSA monitoring systems preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting quality control activities on BSA alerts which include but are not limited to typologies in the AML, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), OFAC, and 314(a) workflows.
  • Conducting quality control activities on Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and other monitoring as assigned.
  • Conducting quality control activities on AML, CTR Exemption, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and other cases.
  • Conducting quality control activities on Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).
  • Provides clear and concise written and verbal feedback to the team members and assists with questions as necessary.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable regulations including BSA/AML, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual, and department policy and procedures.
  • Daily mentoring and coaching to the team as needed.
  • Lead by displaying the ability to research and comprehend a high level of knowledge in current and developing regulations.
  • Working with department peers and management to ensure the BSA department produces the best possible quality product.
  • Works to develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members in the BSA department and other areas of the bank.
  • Displays strong adherence to internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations.
  • Possess and display a positive approach in managing change, while demonstrating excellent communication skills through effective conversations and collaboration.
  • Foster the bank’s culture by utilizing paid volunteer time.
