Brownells offers a paid, rotational internship exclusively for students enrolled in the Iowa Valley Community College Gunsmith Technology Program. During the Spring 2027 semester (January–May), interns gain hands-on exposure to multiple areas of the firearm business through job shadowing and project work that contributes to business operations. The internship is located at Brownells’ Grinnell and Montezuma facilities and the Big Springs Shooting Complex, and is scheduled for approximately 6–10 hours per week around class schedules, totaling approximately 70 hours during the semester. Rotations may include retail store operations; the Grinnell and Montezuma distribution centers; firearms support; supply chain and wholesale sales; the creative services photo/video team; and range operations and event support at Big Springs Shooting Complex. The experience provides opportunities to build customer-facing skills, learn about compliance and ATF processes, discuss firearm function and product applications, connect with industry professionals, and explore career paths in retail, technical service, supply chain, and brand or content work. The work takes place in retail, warehouse, range, and office environments. Tasks may involve standing, bending, moving around facilities, lifting and handling items, and repetitive activities. This is classified as Medium Work: lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently, and standing and moving for extended periods as required by the rotation. Interns may encounter noise in range, warehouse, and retail environments and are expected to follow firearm and workplace safety procedures. Application deadline: noon on Tuesday, December 1, 2026. Pay is $15.00 per hour.
