About The Position

This role involves performing data entry for customs entries, including ISF filing for all ocean shipments and assisting with product classifications. The position supports the Import Department with inbound and bonded shipments, audits brokerage files and payments, and ensures compliance with U.S. Customs standards. Responsibilities include data entry of import AMS information and HTS#, preparing entry documentation, specializing in remote location filing, and arranging delivery and invoicing. The role requires timely filing of ISF, preparing delivery orders, processing documents through the company's ABI system, and reviewing customs rejections and client requests.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in freight forwarding, handling customs business.
  • Knowledge of customs compliance and regulations.
  • Importation into U.S. commerce.
  • Experience filing entries containing PGA information, especially FDA (Medical Devices).
  • Experience filing ISFs accurately and timely.
  • Strong business acumen with a keen aptitude to quickly assimilate new information.
  • Excellent organization, analytical, written, and oral communications skills.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgement.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
  • Must be a confident self-starter who can develop effective business relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, customer service oriented, and eager to ensure the success of the team.
  • Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Data entry of customs entries.
  • ISF Filing for all Ocean Shipments.
  • Assisting in product classifications for all customs brokerage shipments.
  • Assist with inbound entries and Bonded shipment.
  • Support Import Dept of excess shipments.
  • Perform audit and review on all assigned brokerage files and payments to customs.
  • Properly classify the commercial invoices using the US Tariff Book and CROSS as a reference tool.
  • Data entry of import AMS information and HTS# - Including transmission to US Customs.
  • Preparing entry documentation including 7501 and 3461.
  • Specialize in remote location filing.
  • Assists with maintaining compliance measures for import operation – Maintain document compliance.
  • Ensures that proper documentation and procedures are maintained in accordance with U.S. Customs standards.
  • Arrange both delivery and the invoicing of the import account for services rendered.
  • Ensure timely filing of ISF 72 hours prior to shipment leaving last origin port.
  • Prepare delivery orders, send to trucker, follow up with POD.
  • Process documents through the Company's ABI system, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate.
  • Review and monitor all Customs rejections and requests for information for clients.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
