About The Position

WBTV is seeking a Broadcast Engineer/IT Technician to support reliable, high-quality live and recorded programming, newsroom operations, and post-production. This role is hands-on and service-oriented, combining broadcast engineering fundamentals with modern IT and IP-based workflow support in an automated environment.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 2 years of working experience in Broadcast Engineering-IT.
  • On-the-job and/or formal training in repairing Broadcast Transmitters.
  • Display and maintain a professional appearance, based on station standards and professional demeanor.
  • Calm, methodical troubleshooting under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation habits.
  • Customer-service mindset and cross-team collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Crispin Automation, Ross Overdrive, and Harmonic is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support all on-air operations for live and recorded programming, including studio, control room, and post-production environments.
  • Troubleshoot issues quickly under deadline pressure across baseband, RF, and IP-based systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and install broadcast and post-production equipment (studio systems, routing, audio, video, editing, and ingest/playout workflows).
  • Perform preventative maintenance and document configuration changes to ensure maximum system uptime.
  • Support and collaborate with teams across departments (News, Production, Creative Services, Engineering, and IT) to keep workflows running smoothly.
  • Ensure daily operations comply with WBTV policies and all applicable FCC standards and guidelines.
  • Oversee and support IT-based broadcast workflows in an automated environment (including networked systems and related infrastructure).
  • Support digital transmitter operations and assist with transmitter-related maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing status updates and post-incident summaries as needed.
  • Familiarity with FCC operational standards and compliance expectations for broadcast television.
  • Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call support as needed.
