Requirements

  • Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual bridge maintenance programs and develop repair project lists with material and cost details
  • Work with traffic, environmental, and county personnel to secure permits, materials, and clearances for repair projects
  • Provide technical guidance during construction seasons by interpreting drawings and inspecting project progress
  • Respond promptly to emergency bridge repairs and assist county crews with needed support
  • Monitor salvaged material availability and maintain district inventory for bridge maintenance use
  • Manage custodial and maintenance staff to ensure efficient workflow and safe working conditions
