About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Technician out of our Greenville, SC office! This role involves assisting with North Carolina and South Carolina Routine Bridge inspections, load ratings, and non-destructive testing. The technician will support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills, learning basic principles of Bridge Engineering. Responsibilities include assisting with project research, field work, preliminary design calculations and analysis, and supporting the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. The role also involves assisting in collecting and maintaining project documentation, completing training on assigned tasks, and exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be required by business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in Civil / Structural Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with North Carolina and South Carolina Routine Bridge inspections, load ratings and non-destructive testing.
  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Bridge Engineering.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
