About The Position

ISL is seeking a Bridge Inspection Technologist to join their team in BC's lower mainland. This role involves all phases of bridge projects, with an emphasis on coordinating and leading Bridge Condition Assessments and Construction Inspection projects. The position is primarily based in the Lower Mainland but offers opportunities to work on multidisciplinary projects across all ISL offices. ISL is a company of over 600 employees specializing in infrastructure projects, with a dedicated Bridge Team focused on mentoring and growing individuals. Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree related to: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology and/or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology
  • 1 to 5+ years of experience in the Bridge Inspection field
  • Knowledge of drafting and design using AutoDesk (Civil 3D and AutoCAD) products
  • Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6) and other Canadian design standards and procedures
  • Experience with Bridge Condition Inspections for the BC Ministry of Transportation (BMIS), Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (BIM), Ontario Ministry of Transportation (OSIM), and other bridge design practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction contract administration and supervision
  • Drone pilot licence and / or drone operation experience
  • Experience with tender preparation, specification writing and cost estimation
  • Previous co-op or work experience in civil engineering design and inspection
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Construction or Topographic survey experience
  • BIM certification(s)
  • Concrete coring, delamination (chain-drag) and chloride testing experience
  • Precast concrete or steel girder fabrication inspection experience (ex. PCI or CWB certification)

  • Documentation of Results and Timely Reporting
  • Keeping up-to-date on Industry Standards and New Technologies
