About The Position

WSP is seeking a Bridge Inspection Project Manager/Team Leader for its Northeast Region Bridge Inspection Group, based out of the Valhalla, New York office, with flexibility for other New York offices. This full-time role involves project management, business development, and securing bridge/structure inspection and load rating work for state, transit, and local clients. The position requires leading structural inspections to grow the region's bridge inspection group. Travel may be necessary for client interaction and inspections. The role utilizes engineering education, licensure, NHI/FHWA certifications, and experience to inspect bridges, culverts, tunnels, ancillary structures, and retaining walls per NBIS/NTIS standards and client guidelines. Inspection reports will use asset management software and may include recommendations for maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, replacement, and load rating updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 12+ years of NBIS bridge inspection experience serving transportation clients.
  • Demonstrated success managing bridge inspection projects and leading technical teams.
  • Current NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification.
  • Current NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques certification (NHI 130078).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and project management skills, including budget and schedule accountability.
  • Ability to work independently while mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Physically capable of performing field inspections, including working at heights, climbing, and operating in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major bridge inspection and load rating programs, ensuring safe, high-quality, and profitable project delivery.
  • Grow and strengthen WSP's bridge inspection practice throughout the Northeast Region through strategic business development and client engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state DOTs, transit agencies, local governments, and other key transportation clients.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical leadership and practical solutions for bridge and structural asset management.
  • Lead project teams, managing scope, budget, schedule, staffing, subcontractors, and quality performance.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of inspection reports, engineering recommendations, and asset management deliverables.
  • Lead technical aspects of proposals, pursuit activities, contract negotiations, presentations, and interviews.
  • Support regional growth initiatives through market analysis, opportunity identification, forecasting, and pipeline development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and future-ready infrastructure solutions.
  • Mentor, develop, and provide leadership to bridge inspection staff and emerging professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, QA/QC procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain technical excellence and stay current on evolving bridge inspection practices, technologies, and industry requirements.
