About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Bridge Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work from its Rocky Hill, Connecticut office. The internship offers experience in CAD design, bridge engineering, and bridge inspection, working with experienced engineers on a variety of civil engineering projects and technical activities.

The intern will assist in preparing preliminary and final drawings, layouts, and designs using computer-aided design software. They will also support civil transportation and site engineering development projects, technical studies and analyses, construction documents, and related documentation. Duties may include calculations, site visits, and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Working toward a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a similar program.
• Focus in transportation or structures (bridge).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and MicroStation.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficiency in organizing and presenting documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong self-initiative and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with preparing preliminary and final drawings, layouts, and designs using CAD software.
• Help develop plans, specifications, and estimates for civil transportation and/or site engineering development projects.
• Assist with technical studies, design analyses, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Complete simple to moderate calculations, such as quantity calculations.
• Conduct site visits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
