About The Position

The Carpenter I constructs, installs, and repairs structures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard on construction projects. The role works closely with crew members and subcontractors to help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The position also involves identifying and resolving issues that arise during construction projects and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in carpentry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational training in carpentry.
• Experience in a construction setting.
• Experience with government contracts and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, and repair structures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the scope of work.
• Measure, mark, and cut materials to the required size and shape.
• Install windows, frames, flooring, and trim using hand and power tools.
• Install cabinets, counters, and molding.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
• Communicate with crew members and subcontractors to help ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors, keeping them aware of project schedules and deadlines.
• Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
