About The Position

Yuengling is looking for a full time Brewer to join the team at America’s Oldest Brewery. The Brewer will effectively, efficiently, and safely meet all job requirements, abilities, accountabilities, and goals as directed by the Brewing Lead.

Requirements

  • Prioritize safety by adhering to all safety requirements and consistently using the appropriate PPE for each task.
  • Accurately complete administrative forms and reports in a timely fashion.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, and procedures, including those necessary to maintain required licenses, certifications, and/or registrations.
  • Understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Work effectively with others.
  • Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude to hook-up rail cars, run solutions systems, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use a forklift to unload trucks of brewing materials.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights: top of fermenters, rail cars, silos.
  • Ability to unload railcars of bulk brewing materials.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with computer skills and data entry.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with hands on work and mechanical aptitude is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all panel-mate screens and effectively monitor and operate as many as 15 screens.
  • Visually monitor each department floor as needed (mills, mash-in tub, sparge water, press, kettle, spent grain screw, basement, trub tank and hydraulics in the laundry room).
  • Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
  • Notify the Maintenance or Electrical teams when support is required.
  • Regularly check grain silos and determine which silo is next to be emptied.
  • Monitor syrup hut and switch huts if needed.
  • Unload grain cars and syrup tanks as they arrive and/or when space is available.
  • Set up pit and applicable conveyors to unload grain after the cars are finished emptying and unload dust collector.
  • Remove dust from dust collector and vacuum under the silos and dump the drums in the D.E. dumpster.
  • Monitor materials in Hop Room and verify reorders when needed.
  • Weigh all materials needed for each brew.
  • Clean the pit and track area, pull the boots, and dump the grain and dust into the D.E. dumpster.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in correctly cleaning and maintaining all mill equipment.
  • Unload syrup cars, disconnect, and flush all unloading equipment with hot water.
  • Maintain cleanliness on all surfaces and floors.
  • Be familiar with brewing beer and cooling wort.
  • Understand fassing and tank cleaning procedures.
  • Possess knowledge of filtering and carbonating processes.
  • Hook up beer tanks.
  • Assist with QA Checks.
  • Be familiar with the CIP system and capable of sanitizing hoses, vessels, and other brewing equipment.
  • Brew, ferment, age, and filter beer.
  • Perform in-place cleaning and sanitizing of hoses, vessels, and equipment.
  • Work independently without direct supervision to complete shift responsibilities.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all members of the Operations Department.
  • Be available to work flexible hours and weekends as needed, as well as complete other duties as assigned by the Manager.
