About The Position

The Supplemental Breast Imaging Care Specialist will fill in for vacation and sick calls primarily at Sacred Heart Imaging Center. The primary goal is to assist the radiologists and breast imaging department in maintaining an efficient workflow. This role is responsible for organizing the reading room to facilitate timely review and dictation of reports by radiologists, and assisting within the department to ensure smooth patient flow. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities with constant interruptions, and possess strong organizational skills. Excellent communication, tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality are essential. The role involves making decisions regarding daily work priorities based on company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • One year minimum experience in the medical field
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology required
  • Ability to consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages
  • Detail oriented

  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • Employees must not be included on the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality customer service by showing compassion and empathy to patients, listening to requests, asking appropriate questions, and relaying necessary preparatory information.
  • Coordinates requested exams with radiologist skill sets and schedules to maximize equipment utilization.
  • Maintains clean and well-stocked reading rooms, including cleaning monitors and workstations.
  • Prints schedules for radiologists and the department.
  • Ensures radiologists have all necessary paperwork for each exam, including previous reports, history sheets, referral slips, and pathology reports.
  • Ensures all current and previous studies are digitized, pushed, and in presentation state for electronic reading.
  • Scans appropriate paperwork into PACS and Medicalis.
  • Reviews exam and history forms for proper information prior to presentation for reading.
  • Calls abnormal reports to referring clinicians upon request.
  • Prioritizes STAT exams.
  • Remains available for Radiologists requests and shares this responsibility with other mammography staff.
  • Calls and schedules patients for additional imaging.
  • Schedules with interpreters as needed and requests interpreters for exams.
  • Requests prior imaging from Nuance Powershare.
  • Calls for outside comparison studies and maintains proper documentation, prepares paperwork, pushes images, and merges for reading.
  • Triages multiple calls on multiple phone lines.
  • Utilizes Control Center to assign studies to radiologist worklists for interpretation.
  • Transports procedure patients to day surgery (SHIC), (HF).
  • Monitors daily logs to ensure proper follow-up of patients.
  • Monitors and responds to emails.
  • Maintains a high level of customer service.
  • Stocks beverages for radiologists on site.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
