About The Position

The Breast Care Nurse Navigator is responsible for the creation, development and facilitation of Breast Care Services at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The job exists to establish, implement and monitor an effective and efficient experience for women through the many disciplines required for care. The Navigator will be responsible for developing relationships with outside providers, as well as hospital departments to effectively case manage patients through the continuum of care. The Navigator will be responsible for the quality and success of the program through experience in identifying and intervening in all breast issues serving as the first and direct contact for patients and providers. The Breast Care Nurse Navigator will seek to grow and develop protocols and pathways to enhance the service, seek to continuously improve the experience for patients and providers. The Navigator will also serve as Chair of a Multidiscipline Team consisting of hospital, departmental and physician providers.

Requirements

  • RN with 5 years' experience.
  • Ability to obtain a South Carolina License.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of South Carolina.
  • 5 years of Nursing experience with experience in Surgical and Women's Health.
  • Experience in case management and patient education counseling.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of breast abnormalities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Project manager.
  • Ability to lead teams and work groups.
  • Current BLS required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Certified Breast Health Coordinator preferred.
  • Must seek certification within 6 months of employment.
