About The Position

The Utah Department of Health and Human Services, through the Utah Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program, is seeking a Health Program Specialist II to join their team. This program provides education, awareness, and reimbursement for breast and cervical cancer screening for low-income women throughout Utah. The program collaborates with health and community partners to identify and remove barriers for women and develop strategies to increase screening opportunities, with the ultimate goal of decreasing breast and cervical cancer morbidity rates in Utah by increasing screening rates for both cancers.

Requirements

  • Public health educator or community health worker background.
  • At least 4 years of community interaction experience educating on health prevention and promotion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Adobe.
  • At least 4 years of experience interacting with the public in both group settings and individually.
  • Proficient in working with upset customers and finding resolutions to concerns.
  • Portray DHHS core values of accountability, connection, efficacy, empathy, equity impact, innovation, and support.
  • Must reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with program databases for enrolling clients and reviewing claim status (trainable on the job).
  • Bi-lingual.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with billing responsibilities, including customer service, claim status requests, and provider contacts (40% of time).
  • Educate the public by attending community health fairs, events, and coalitions to promote breast and cervical cancer screening (40% of time).
  • Utilize the B&C database to enter enrollments, schedule appointments, and review claim status (20% of time).
