About The Position
A key member of the Denver Gazette team, the Breaking News Reporter is primarily responsible for pursuing daily breaking news for the website and our daily digital edition. This job entails working weekends and some nights, as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong news photography skills preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or mass communications, or a similar field.
Responsibilities
- Covers breaking news for our digital platforms and the daily e-edition
- Shoots photos for spot news, feature or enterprise stories, as assigned
- Writes about public safety stories, such as crime trends
- Collaborates and maintains strong working relationship with other staffers
- Uses multiple tools, such as video, and platforms, notably social media, to convey stories
- Develops a wide range of sources in metro Denver
- Writes enterprise articles and other stories, as assigned
- Familiar with SEO requirements and other strategies to draw in and engage a wider audience
