About The Position

The Orléans Room at the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel is seeking a dependable, motivated, and enthusiastic Line Cook to join their culinary team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills and gain experience in a professional hotel kitchen environment. The role primarily involves working breakfast shifts, offering the chance to learn from experienced culinary professionals and build strong fundamentals in food preparation, cooking, and service. The Orléans Room provides a unique dining experience, blending Omaha's history with a fresh, modern approach to cuisine, using locally sourced ingredients and featuring a menu with both classic and creative dishes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for cooking.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute breakfast menu items according to Orléans Room standards.
  • Complete daily prep accurately and efficiently.
  • Follow recipes, portioning, seasoning, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain proper cooking temperatures and food safety practices.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation.
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and fellow team members during service.
  • Assist with opening and closing kitchen responsibilities.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all dishes leaving the kitchen.
  • Follow all sanitation and kitchen safety standards.
  • Support the culinary team with additional kitchen responsibilities as needed.
