About The Position

The Bread Expeditor Coordinator is the link between Bread Production and Delivery. The Bread Expeditor Coordinator safely, accurately and efficiently pulls and expedites all phases of wholesale bread orders. The Bread Expeditor Coordinator position is the fourth of four Bread Expeditor levels.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required
  • Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card at all times and follows health department guidelines at all times.
  • Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time.
  • Must be able to add, subtract and multiply with ease and accuracy
  • Ability to function calmly and efficiently in high-pressure, multi-task, deadline-driven environment
  • Basic computer skills required including use of MS Outlook or similar email program

Nice To Haves

  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred
  • HS diploma/GED preferred
  • May be required to work a variety of days and shifts to meeting business need including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures staffing needs are met. Calls in staff as necessary.
  • Is able to differentiate between and describe products
  • Pulls orders, slices, and packages all products in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner
  • Maintains accurate counts of products
  • Understands use of all equipment used in Expediting
  • Able to operate bread and bun slicers efficiently while maintaining quality standards
  • Meets quality and pace expectations as per training requirements
  • Makes decisions about quality control concerns.
  • Directs shortages, substitutions, and changes invoices as needed.
  • Ensures daily paperwork is complete and turned into the proper locations.
  • Keeps delivery and expediting areas clean and orderly
  • Follows HACCP training and understands responsibilities to maintain records and food safety goals
  • Maintains clear communication and good rapport with crew members, delivery drivers, bread production and supervisors.
  • Communicates product shortages and causes via e-mail.
  • Communicates expediting operation concerns – i.e. packing, scheduling, product quality.
  • Communicates any identified systemic problems with recommendations, suggestions, and solutions.
  • Communicates critical information to the Manager in a timely manner including: Equipment issues, Supply concerns, Maintenance or cleaning needs, Accurate counts of product and shortages due to culling, Quality control information and trends
  • Uses knowledge of quality control standards to offer support, training and guidance to other expediting and delivery employees about Grand Central products.
  • Monitors daily product - able to identify potential quality control concerns and make appropriate judgment call about whether or not it is sellable.
  • Shares quality control feedback with appropriate departments and staff
  • Monitors packaging supply inventory and alerts supervisor about needs.
  • Inspects expediting equipment prior to and after shift. Notifies supervisor immediately of any required repairs or safety hazards.
  • Understands the financial goals of the department and the impact of lost product.
  • When necessary, creates schedule for Expediting Team and makes last minute adjustments as needed.
  • Knows and acts in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Central Bakery in all parts of their job.

  • Able to enter maintenance and safety tickets into FMX
  • Promptly reports all injuries, big or small, that are sustained while at work. Assists with injury reports.
  • Trains new hires and existing employees on safety protocols.
