Under limited supervision, the Branch Operations Supervisor will assist the Branch Manager in supervising branch operations and staff development by communicating policies and procedures, providing technical support, delegating responsibilities, evaluating performance, and supporting sales and service activities. This position also serves as a banker and front-line customer ambassador, identifying customer needs through outbound calling, in-person meetings, inbound phone calls, and daily branch interactions; educating customers about INB financial products and services; opening and maintaining accounts; completing transactions; and selling or referring appropriate solutions to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Two years teller experience and/or training required in area of cash handling or customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly (both written and verbally)
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Requires ability to use good judgement in making routine and complex decisions
  • Must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to sell products and Services
  • Ability to accurately handle large sums of cash
  • Must be goal oriented and able to achieve individual goals as well as work as a team player to achieve departmental and/or Bank goals
  • Flexibility is necessary with the ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with an ability to quickly learn other bank related programs

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for greeting all bank customers, as they enter the branch, in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Manage reserve cash vault, official check supply by maintaining dual-control records, preparing and receiving cash shipments, distributing teller cash orders and balancing reserve cash daily to ensure compliance with branch standards and guidelines; approve checks for payment and issues supervisor overrides.
  • As dictated by staff fluctuation, maintain and balance an individual cash drawer by opening a teller station as needed to assist in customer transactions; (in this capacity, performs all duties of Teller).
  • Monitor teller error and transaction reports by informing staff of errors and verifying accuracy to communicate correct procedures,
  • Research teller proof errors by reviewing teller tapes, requesting copies, etc. for proper error resolution.
  • Assist in bimonthly or random teller drawer audits to ensure compliance with set guidelines.
  • Complete on the job training for new employees after completion of formalized teller classes to help employee adapt to work environment.
  • Oversee delegated responsibilities by providing support and assistance as needed to create accurate reporting of monthly Management Control Reporting.
  • Participate in maintaining strong customer relationships by providing courteous, efficient service and developing new business by acquainting non-customers with Bank services and presenting customers with additional services. Identify and respond to cross-sell opportunities by selling or referring customers to the appropriate Bank personnel based on customer needs.
  • Assist branch manager in evaluating individual performance by completing performance reviews on teller staff annually or as needed.
  • Assist branch manager in conducting meaningful coaching sessions with teller staff to equip them with the skills necessary to identify and refer additional products and services to customers and non-customers.
  • Serve as a mentor to teller staff to develop the skills needed for advancement within the bank.
  • Serve customers in a banker capacity by assisting with account openings, account management, financial service needs, and account maintenance.
  • Listen effectively to recognize customer needs, communicate available options, and provide or recommend solutions appropriate to those needs.
  • Provide timely and efficient completion of customer transactions while maintaining accurate records and thorough handling of all monies assigned.
  • Proactively participate in the branch sales/quality referral process and work toward individual, departmental, and Bank goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assists the Branch Manager in supervising branch staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Includes assisting with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
