About The Position

Odlum Brown is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to succeed the current Branch Manager for the Victoria and Courtenay offices. This role is a critical link between advisor operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic business growth. The Branch Manager will support over 30 advisory team members and partners closely with Branch Vice President, Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Head of Practice Management, and the Chief Compliance Officer to drive operational excellence while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance. This leadership role requires the ability to build trusted relationships with advisors and key stakeholders, promote a high-performance culture, and serve as a strategic partner to senior and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Completion or current enrollment in the CIRO Supervisor Exam
  • Proven experience in branch leadership or advisory management within the Canadian wealth management industry
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian securities regulations, particularly CIRO
  • Strong client-facing and relationship building capabilities
  • Solid understanding of advisor business models, operational needs, and client service delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentorship skills
  • Excellent judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational and supervisory responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support 30+ Investment Advisors and support-team members across the Victoria and Courtenay offices
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and “clients first” culture aligned with the firm’s values and long-term strategy
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with advisory teams; serve as a business, compliance, and operational resource
  • Participate in advisor onboarding, succession planning, and talent development initiatives in partnership with Practice Management and Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute branch goals and objectives for both Victoria and Courtenay
  • Recommend and implement improvements to internal controls, workflows, and operational processes
  • Oversee administrative functions and facility management
  • Manage branch budgets, including invoice review and expense reimbursement approvals
  • Liaise with IT on technology support, data security, and infrastructure needs
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on firm and branch events
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor Investment Assistants and branch support team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to ensure professionalism and productivity
  • Manage Investment Assistant schedules and vacation coverage to ensure business continuity and client service levels are maintained
  • Provide supervisory oversight for the branches, ensuring adherence to CIRO and firm policies and accurate supervisory documentation and records
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive Portfolio Manager Supervision program
  • Support compliance with daily, monthly, and quarterly supervision activities, including: Trade reviews, Account activity monitoring, Client communications, Marketing and Communications approvals, Advisor conduct oversight
  • Collaborate with Compliance to enhance supervision frameworks, testing protocols, and monitoring programs
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to Senior Leadership on supervision outcomes, risk issues, and compliance trends
  • Assist with audits, internal investigations, and remediation of compliance findings
  • Stay current on regulatory developments and proactively implement required policy or process changes
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Management to resolve client related issues promptly and professionally
  • Ensure alignment between regulatory obligations and the preservation of strong client relationships
  • Serve as a regional escalation point and trusted advisor on regulatory matters
