About The Position

This position is responsible for setting up and operating the braiding machines that cover electric wire and cables with insulating materials, such as copper strands and textile threads.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to work well with a team, but also be comfortable with doing independent projects.
Good communication skills and patience.
Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Comply with all safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment and minimize workplace hazards.
Participate in training related to operation of machine and related paperwork, increase knowledge and awareness in order to assist in performing maintenance tasks.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Monitor the braiding process closely, making real-time adjustments to equipment settings to maintain product quality and output efficiency.
Conduct quality and settings checks upon starting shift and regularly throughout the shift.
Maintain good traverse during braiding operations; use micrometer to check wire gauges.
Change take-up reels before being overfilled.
Perform minor maintenance including oiling machines and cutting loose ends of braid.
Separate bobbins and boxes for return to vendor.
Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring guards and shields are over pulley gears and chain.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues to minimize downtime.
Notify supervisor of any issues and if items fail to meet quality standards.
Maintain accurate production records, including product counts, machine settings, and maintenance activities, to track productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
Perform other similar and related duties as assigned or instructed by supervisor.
