About The Position

Tanque Verde High School is seeking a Boys Basketball Head Coach. Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, on the bus during trips and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, coworkers, contest officials and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior and interactions with our student athletes should be reflective of this. Additionally, all head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, shall complete the NFHS online education course entitled "Concussion in Sports-What You Need to Know", prior to starting coaching duties. All head coaches shall have a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificated, or have completed each of the following criteria from the National Federation of State High School Associations online at www.nfhslearn.org. This certification shall be on file or recorded in the office of the principal or his/her designee. Note: For the titles of valid Arizona Teaching Certificates, please refer to the Arizona Department of Education website http://ade.state.az.us/certification. (Level 1 Certification) within forty-five (45) days from date of hire. Fundamentals of coaching, First Aid/CPR, Sport specific course or teaching sport skills if sport is not offered. Previous sport-specific experience preferred. Candidates must have or must obtain (if hired): Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card NFHS Coaching Fundamentals Course NFHS Concussion in Sports CPR/First Aid Certification

Requirements

  • Complete the NFHS online education course entitled "Concussion in Sports-What You Need to Know" (prior to starting coaching duties).
  • Have a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificated, or have completed specified criteria from the National Federation of State High School Associations online at www.nfhslearn.org.
  • Certification on file or recorded in the office of the principal or his/her designee within forty-five (45) days from date of hire.
  • Complete Fundamentals of coaching, First Aid/CPR, Sport specific course or teaching sport skills if sport is not offered.
  • Obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Complete NFHS Coaching Fundamentals Course.
  • Complete NFHS Concussion in Sports.
  • Complete CPR/First Aid Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sport-specific experience preferred.
