Part-Time Boys Basketball Coach
About The Position
St. Theresa Catholic School is seeking a part-time boys basketball coach for the school year. The coach develops, organizes, and supervises the boys basketball program, providing leadership in athletic skill development, sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork while maintaining a safe, positive environment for student-athletes. The school participates in the Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association, which has North and South divisions. During the season, teams normally practice twice and play twice per week. Games include home and away matchups against division schools, so some travel is involved; parents are responsible for transporting student-athletes to games. The program has a wide range of player experience and does not cut student-athletes who wish to participate. The JV team is developmental, while the varsity team is competitive. This is a stipend-only position. Coaches must complete an application, online Safe Environment Training, and required annual online trainings in bloodborne pathogens, first aid and sudden illness, AED and CPR, anaphylaxis and epinephrine, and child abuse and neglect.
Requirements
- Coaching or playing experience.
- Knowledge of basketball.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build a good rapport with players and parents.
- Serve as a good Christian example for student-athletes.
- Complete an application, online Safe Environment Training, and required annual online trainings in bloodborne pathogens, first aid and sudden illness, AED and CPR, anaphylaxis and epinephrine, and child abuse and neglect.
