The position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Candidates must be employed by the Board of Education in accordance with Article XII-G of the Master Contract between the Buffalo Board of Education and the Buffalo Teacher’s Federation. The role requires adherence to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, modeling non-discriminatory practices, and assuming complete responsibility for the conduct and teachings of the team. Availability for contests and practices from Monday through Saturday and some holidays is expected. Responsibilities include supervising equipment, establishing positive relationships, attending meetings, conducting organizational meetings, preparing schedules, following injury procedures, submitting rosters, reporting scores, notifying administration of changes, supervising team members after practices/games, completing end-of-season reports, and complying with all relevant policies and regulations. The coach will assess player skills, monitor players during competition and practice, model sports-like behavior, and participate in special activities like parent's night and banquets. Support tasks include distributing and maintaining eligibility forms and emergency data cards. The role also involves attending staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance, and performing any other related duties as assigned.
