This position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. The coach must adhere to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, model non-discriminatory practices, and assume complete responsibility for the conduct of their team. The role involves supervising equipment, establishing positive relationships, attending meetings, conducting organization meetings, preparing schedules, and following procedures for athlete injuries. The coach will also be responsible for submitting rosters, reporting scores, notifying administration of any changes or incidents, and supervising team members after practices/games. Compliance with all policies and procedures outlined in the NYS Commissioners regulations, NYSPHSAA Section VI, and BPS Interscholastic Athletic Handbook is required. The coach will make decisions regarding their team within established policies but will defer broader scope decisions to the Athletic Director. They will assess player skills, monitor players during competition and practice, model sports-like behavior, and participate in special activities like parent's night and banquets. Support tasks include distributing and maintaining eligibility forms and emergency data cards. The coach will also attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance, and perform any other related duties as assigned.
