Warehouse General Laborer Box Sorter
About The Position
As a Box Sorter, you are part of the logistics team, manually inspecting and sorting materials to meet Propak standards and production goals. You evaluate the quality of incoming boxes and prepare suitable boxes for reuse through labeling and palletization. Pay includes a guaranteed base rate of $14.00 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more based on the quantity of high-quality boxes sorted. The role provides comprehensive training, and prior experience is not necessary. The position is primarily in a warehouse environment, which may include dust, fluctuating hot and cold temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment are required. The work involves extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting, as well as repetitive handling and moving of boxes.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 or more hours per day.
- Ability to frequently perform repetitive movements, including squatting, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to repeatedly handle, lift, and move boxes of varying sizes and weights.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for breaking down, inspecting, and stickering boxes.
- Ability to accurately hand-sort and palletize boxes by size while inspecting for damage or reuse.
- Dependability, trustworthiness, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to identify and follow safety requirements and Propak policies in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment.
- Good vision for inspecting boxes and performing sorting tasks accurately.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in manual labor or a similar physically demanding role is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Break down boxes that have not already been broken down.
- Inspect boxes for damage and determine whether they can be reused.
- Apply stickers to boxes acceptable for reuse, covering barcodes.
- Palletize boxes by size.
- Meet or exceed daily production requirements, with a standard goal of at least one pallet per hour.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift.
- Comply with Propak policies and procedures and federal and state safety rules.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support and improve team operations.
