Warehouse General Labor - Box Sorter - Day Shift A
About The Position
As a Box Sorter, you will manually inspect and sort incoming materials to meet Propak standards and production goals. You will evaluate boxes for damage and reuse, prepare acceptable boxes through labeling and palletization, and contribute to overall logistics operations in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Productivity is tied to production goals, with a standard goal of at least one pallet per hour. The position works Shift A: Sunday through Tuesday from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 4:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The starting pay is $15.00 per hour, with guaranteed 50-cent hourly increases at 90 days, one year, and annually thereafter for five years, reaching the maximum rate at five years in the role. The employee primarily works in a warehouse and may be exposed to dust, fluctuating hot and cold temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment are required. Comprehensive training is provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for eight or more hours a day.
- Ability to frequently perform repetitive movements, including squatting, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to repeatedly handle, lift, and move boxes of varying sizes and weights.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for breaking down, inspecting, and stickering boxes.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment.
- Good vision for inspecting boxes and sorting accurately.
- Ability to identify and follow safety and Propak policies in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependability, trustworthiness, and a strong work ethic.
Nice To Haves
- Previous manual labor experience or experience in a similar physically demanding role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Break down boxes that have not already been broken down.
- Inspect boxes for damage and determine whether they can be reused.
- Apply stickers to boxes acceptable for reuse, covering their barcodes.
- Palletize boxes by size.
- Meet or exceed daily production requirements, with a standard goal of at least one pallet per hour.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift.
- Comply with Propak policies and procedures and federal and state safety rules.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support and improve team operations.
