About The Position

The Box Office Manager is responsible for setting up and managing the ticketing system, coordinating ticket sales, handling financial transactions, and providing reports to the Business Office. This role also involves assisting patrons, resolving ticketing issues, and managing box office staff and volunteers. Additionally, the Box Office Manager will collaborate on marketing efforts, create schedules, and oversee event night operations, including financial reconciliation and closing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up a ticketing system (online and/or physical box office).
  • Coordinate ticket pricing, seating charts, and showtimes.
  • Oversee pre-sales and day-of-show ticket sales.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and credit card processing.
  • Track ticket sales and provide sales reports to the Business Office.
  • Assist patrons with purchasing tickets, including exchanges and special requests.
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues related to ticketing.
  • Provide accessibility or special seating accommodations as needed.
  • Maintain records of ticket sales, attendance, and revenue and submit to Business Office.
  • Prepare end-of-show or end-of-season financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the theatre director or school staff to project ticket sales.
  • Help distribute promotional materials (flyers, posters, social media updates).
  • Coordinate with student marketing teams or clubs to boost attendance.
  • Train and manage student or parent volunteers working at the box office.
  • Create shift schedules for box office coverage during show nights.
  • Arrive early to open the box office and prepare for ticket sales.
  • Coordinate with ushers and house staff to ensure smooth entry.
  • Handle any last-minute issues (will call, lost tickets, etc.).
  • Close the box office and secure funds or ticketing materials.
  • Count and deposit ticket sale revenue in accordance with school policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile discrepancies.
