About The Position

The Bowling Head Coach is responsible for coordinating the interscholastic bowling program within Cloverleaf Schools. This part-time, exempt position requires a strong understanding of coaching techniques, athlete development, and program management. The coach will supervise athletes, manage equipment, communicate with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with school and league regulations. This role also involves mentoring assistant coaches and serving as a role model for student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the total interscholastic bowling program in the Cloverleaf Schools.
  • Supervise all team members before, during, and after practice and games.
  • Establish and enforce team rules concerning attendance, practice, and training.
  • Publicize results to the athletic director, student body, and news media.
  • Assist in planning schedules, transportation, officials, and setting up for home games.
  • Correspond with college coaches regarding interested players.
  • Submit awards lists and secure league, local, district, and state awards.
  • Assist in scheduling non-conference games for varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams.
  • Ensure OHSAA tournament games and conference games take precedence over non-conference games.
  • Responsible for assisting in obtaining assistant coaching positions.
  • Select the squad, which is the final decision of the coach or coaches.
  • Be responsible for the information in the Athletic Handbook and ensure assistants are aware of it.
  • Distribute and collect all uniforms and equipment.
  • Inform the athletic director when difficulties arise.
  • Carry required emergency forms for all players, scorekeepers, and managers.
  • Responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms, and code of conduct for all players.
  • Provide the athletic director with a roster of all student athletes and communicate roster updates.
  • Conduct himself/herself in a manner that does not insult players, officials, or spectators; do not argue judgment calls.
  • Be responsible for the conduct of players and teach by example.
  • Encourage positive fan involvement.
  • Organize practices, off-season workouts, and conduct staff meetings.
  • Evaluate coaches and make recommendations for the next year.
  • Complete entry forms and materials for team eligibility.
  • Outline skills to be mastered at each grade level.
  • Serve as advisor and consultant to middle school coaches.
  • Outline specific assignments for all coaches associated with the program and delegate responsibilities.
  • Inform participants of safety precautions and teach proper skills to reduce injury.
  • Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns.
  • Be responsible for all equipment, including proper storage and inventory.
  • Assist the athletic director in preparing the budget.
  • Be responsible for filming, keeping statistics, and submitting records to the athletic director.
  • Be responsible for reporting and care of all injuries.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Help instill ethical principles and democratic values in students.
  • Conduct other coaching duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
