About The Position

This position is for a Varsity Head Baseball Coach for the SY26/27 school year. The coach will be responsible for coordinating the interscholastic baseball program within the Cloverleaf Schools, including managing all aspects of the team, practices, games, and player development. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire young athletes while adhering to school and league policies. The coach will also serve as a role model for students, instilling ethical principles and democratic values.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Athletic Boosters Club meetings, Athletic Council meetings, and Rules interpretation meetings.
  • Attend clinics in your sport area.
  • Wear proper attire during practice and games.
  • Actively participate in all conference, sectional, district and state level meetings and obligations.
  • Establish team rules concerning attendance, practice and training rules, and enforce them.
  • Publicize results, win or lose, to the athletic director, student body, and news media.
  • Supervise all team members before, during and after practice and games.
  • Aid in planning schedules, transportation, officials and setting up for home games.
  • Correspond with college coaches interested in players.
  • Submit awards list and secure all league, local, district and state awards.
  • Coordinate the total interscholastic baseball program in the Cloverleaf Schools.
  • Communicate baseball needs with grounds keeper/custodian.
  • Assist in scheduling non-conference games for varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams.
  • Ensure O.H.S.A.A. tournament games take precedence, then conference games, and thirdly, non-conference games.
  • Assist in obtaining assistant coaching positions.
  • Make the final decision on selecting a squad.
  • Be responsible for the information in the Athletic Handbook and ensure assistants are aware of it.
  • Be responsible for the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment.
  • Inform the athletic director when difficulties arise.
  • Carry required emergency forms for all players, scorekeepers and managers.
  • Be responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all players.
  • Provide the athletic director with a roster of all student athletes and communicate roster updates.
  • Conduct oneself on the field in a manner that does not insult players, officials or spectators.
  • Do not argue a judgment call by the officials.
  • Be responsible for the conduct of your players.
  • Teach by example.
  • Encourage positive fan involvement.
  • Organize practices, off-season workouts and conduct staff meetings.
  • Evaluate coaches and make recommendations for the next year.
  • Complete any entry forms or materials needed for team eligibility.
  • Outline the skills to be mastered at each grade level.
  • Be the advisor and consultant to middle school coaches.
  • Outline specific assignments for all coaches associated with the program.
  • Delegate responsibilities to all coaches.
  • Inform all participants of safety precautions and teach proper skills to reduce the chance of injury.
  • Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns.
  • Be responsible for all equipment, including proper storage and inventory.
  • Assist the athletic director in preparing the budget.
  • Be responsible for filming, keeping statistics and submitting records to the athletic director.
  • Be responsible for reporting and care of all injuries.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Help instill ethical principles and democratic values in students.
  • Conduct other coaching duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
