About The Position

Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals, families, and veterans experiencing poverty and homelessness in Utah since 2014. Our mission is to empower those in need by addressing the root causes of poverty, providing comprehensive plans, and supporting their journey to self-sufficiency. The Thrift Store/Boutique Associate will be responsible for processing customer sales, assisting other floor associates with store maintenance, providing excellent customer service, building staff rapport, and promoting sales. Employee safety is a priority, and adherence to OSHA proper lifting techniques and safe-lifting ergonomics is expected.

Requirements

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills – professional and kind in all interactions with customers, donors, volunteers, team members, etc.
  • Cashier experience with the ability to count change back and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accurate cash handling.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Review and Follow: OSHA Guidelines for Safe Lifting
  • Great at providing customer service to guests, donors, and staff.
  • Has a good understanding of the value of items.
  • Very organized and detailed in all that is done.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Can drive a box truck and a truck and trailer.
  • Very reliable and willing to do what needs to be done to complete the job.
  • Works well with others.
  • Has a great temperament.
  • Is a self-starter.
  • Is good at merchandising the store.

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to help other floor associates in maintaining all aspects of the store(s).

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties and complete all necessary tasks in processing customer sales.
  • Assist other floor associates in maintaining all aspects of the store(s).
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Build staff rapport.
  • Promote sales.
  • Follow OSHA proper lifting techniques and safe-lifting ergonomics.
  • Price items at a thrift store pricing.
  • Understand the value of items.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Learn reporting procedures of cash register and credit card machine.
  • Assist with donation processing, dealing with vendors, etc.
  • Assist with opening and closing store procedures, restocking, and displays.
  • Collect data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports.
  • Report critical incidents immediately to the Regional Director.
