About The Position

This role involves operating the Goodyear stitcher and supervising the inseaming, welt attach, sole lay, and outsole stitch sequence. The position requires owning the welt process and ensuring product definition through these critical steps.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of experience in Goodyear welt bottoming.
• Hands-on experience operating a Goodyear stitcher.
• Ability to set up, adjust, and maintain a Goodyear stitcher for routine work without external service.
• Ability to trace a welt defect back to its source (inseam, stitch, or material).

Responsibilities

• Operate the Goodyear stitcher, including setting stitch length, tension, wax temperature, and needle for specific styles and leathers.
• Supervise inseaming, welt attach, sole laying, and outsole stitching operations.
• Verify welt seat, stitch line consistency, and channel closure for every lot before it moves to the Making department.
• Control the shank, filler, and cork bed operations according to specifications for the last and style.
• Develop and manage the cross-training plan for inseaming to ensure department depth.
• Maintain the stitcher, including the wax pot, needle and awl condition, thread path, and performing daily preventive checks.
