Border Sewing Associate/Piecing Borders
About The Position
The Border Sewing Associate pieces borders using a border machine and attaches borders to fit around cushions for upholstered furniture. The role involves sewing borders, welt, and zippers for different products; inspecting materials; adjusting machines for different fabrics; following production work tickets and sewing specifications; and maintaining equipment and an orderly work area. The associate follows safety policies and procedures and works with a team to meet or exceed production goals. This is a full-time or part-time position at Century Chair Plant 3 in Hickory, North Carolina, with a day shift. High school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous sewing experience is a plus.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Good hand-eye coordination, concentration, and attention to detail.
- Manual dexterity to assemble products or operate machinery as directed.
- Ability to work in noisy environments.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Occasional lifting or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds; rare lifting or carrying of objects weighing 26–40 pounds.
