About The Position

CAA is seeking an assistant to support two Business Affairs Executives who work with Books Publishing and Intellectual Property (film, television, podcast, etc.). The ideal candidate will be seeking to enhance their knowledge of the entertainment industry while working at a dynamic and collaborative talent agency. The assistant plays a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly. There is tremendous opportunity to learn and grow. Law school graduates, and those considering law school, who are looking for exposure to entertainment law are encouraged to apply, as are those contemplating careers as agents or producers who would like to gain direct experience working in the entertainment industry from a business and legal perspective.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of relevant experience (including internships) within the entertainment industry or a strong interest in transitioning into the entertainment industry
  • Top notch organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to juggle a multitude of tasks
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Team oriented
  • Familiarity with contracts in the entertainment business, specifically relating to book publishing, film, tv, podcast; experience proofreading, drafting, and redlining contracts preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Law degree from ABA accredited law school is preferred but not required (if no Law degree has been earned, an interest in the legal profession is strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative support including phone and meeting coordination, scheduling,booking travel, and preparing expense reports
  • Editing, proofreading, summarizing, and redlining agreements and correspondence
  • Serving as first point of contact with clients and executives while demonstrating a professional, customer-service attitude
  • Tracking contracts and maintaining accurate files
  • Assisting with special projects, research, and compiling information as needed
  • Over time, the assistant will gain experience drafting and commenting on agreements and may be given the opportunity to assist in negotiations with buyers and outside law firms (all under the direct support of BA Executives)
