About The Position

HigherRing is seeking a remote, part-time Bookkeeping Specialist. This role involves supporting clients' bookkeeping functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payroll, journal entries, and reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for accounting, comfortable with full-stack bookkeeping concepts, and understands the strategic importance of clean financial data for business decision-making. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and execute tasks under the supervision of the Bookkeeping Manager. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a proactive approach to optimizing client work and processes. Requirements

  • 10+ years of bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience using bookkeeping software (e.g. QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), Xero, FreshBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Wave, Intacct, Procore).
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Slack and Asana (or similar).
  • A high degree of customer service, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal client and team communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers through video and audio tools in a professional, friendly, and reassuring manner.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Keen problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to stay focused.
  • Strong active listening skills and the ability to use and model positive language.
  • Stamina in problem-solving, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software, including familiarity using multiple browsers, tabs, window navigations, and instant messaging tools.

  • Direct connection from computer to router/modem via Ethernet cable (no satellite or wireless Internet (WiFi)).

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience in full-charge bookkeeping, with multiple clients, and solid knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to create and interpret financial reports such as Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss, and cash flows, among others.
  • Detailed understanding of accounting and bookkeeping and must understand the differences between cash and accrual accounting.
  • Very tech-savvy - comfortable using and learning the newest accounting and office technologies.
  • Experience working in a multiple-client environment.
  • Hyper-organized, able to handle a large variety of projects and tasks and make sure nothing slips between the cracks.
  • Ensures deadlines for accounting month-end are met and all needed reports are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Does everything possible so that the month and year-end processes are smooth and lessen the time needed at the end of these periods.
  • Two-year accounting degree preferred.
  • Credentials/Certifications are helpful such as QB Pro Certification (QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor).
  • Second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports client bookkeeping functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payroll, journal entries, and reporting.
  • Ensures deadlines for accounting month-end are met and all needed reports are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the compilation of client information for tax preparation as requested and agreed by HigherRing (e.g., preparing W-9s, 1099s, and providing reports).
  • Assists in organizing, systematizing, and documenting processes and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
